Japan Implements Revised Tax-Free Shopping Refund System

From 1 November, Japan shifted its tax-free shopping process so eligible international visitors pay the consumption tax at purchase and claim refunds when departing the country. The standard consumption-tax rate remains 10%, and retailers must adapt their checkout and refund procedures.
